DESCRIPTION:As a follow-up to our program last August titled “Understandi
ng Christian Nationalism”\, the Justice and Peace Advocacy Committee wil
l be presenting a two-part program which was inspired by the ELCA’s rece
nt social statement on Faith and Civic Life.  Having explored the toxic a
nd heretical version of Christianity that is promoted by the Christian Nat
ionalism ideology\, we wanted to examine how robust civic engagement as a
public good is both our calling as Christians and our responsibility as re
sidents of this country.\n The first session will be held on Wed.\, April
29 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. It will focus on the proliferation of misinformati
on\, disinformation\, and lies in the public sphere\, how that damages our
democracy\, and how we can discern what’s true and what’s false.  Th
e second session will be held on Thurs.\, May 7 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and wi
ll focus on the Separation of Church and State as outlined in the First Am
endment of the Constitution.  We will discuss the beliefs of the Founding
Fathers\, how the wall between Church and State has eroded and why this s
eparation matters.  Join us in Fellowship Hall for this timely and releva
 nt conversation. \nPlease RSVP Below
